My Name is Rene' and I am the Sisterhood Coordinator for MaryJanesFarm. I love the Out there women concept. We have a cabin in the blue mountains and we spend so much time there year around. The cabin has been in my husbands family for over 100 years and is the HUB of the family get togethers. Seems every weekend in the Spring, Summer and fall there is something going on there and then of course during the winter it is the jump off place for hitting the slopes. Picking wild berries and mushrooms is a normal occurance during the weekend treks. We also thin out the diseased wood and cut it down and haul it in for cooking etc. Many a hunting and fishng expeditions have began there as well. I am looking forward to writing it all down and submitting it all for the Sisterhood badges.

Hi Y'all! Great to "see" some outbound farmgirls over here!! Great photos, Rene - and thanks to you & Alee for keeping the gals apprised of my adventures here in Arkansas. Who says you have to be out west to go wild, right?! Being on the grid actually feels really weird after weeks without. As I switched on all the breakers, I was really bumfuzzled at how much electricity we hadn't been using -- and we'd been getting along pretty darn well. Lights and hot showers feel very extravagant, let me tell you.

Hi Ladies, I heard from Jen this week and she is hoping to have her life back to "normal" in a week or so... They have been without power, living off the grid due to the weather.... I know that she is missing everyone too..... and will have lots to share when she gets "plugged" back in.

Good to know she is ok. Last I heard she was battling the flu and hoped it wasn't serious. If anyone can handle "roughing it" it would be Jen. JoAnn

Yes thanks for asking. I know that she misses everyone too. Alee is correct, poor Jen is dreaming of the deep Thaw... but currently she has her hands full with the weather. The had been fighting the flu and then the ice storms hit. But no worries she will be back, as soon as she can find "normal".

Hi JoAnn-
Jen lives in Arkansas where they have been having the horrible Ice Storms. I got a quick email from her yesterday saying all was well but it might be weeks before she has electricity again! Right now they are hauling water from their creek and she is working pretty hard to do the day to day things like washing clothes and getting her family off to school and work! |

I suppose it does.. Some we may not want to hear ").... Everytime I am there I feel the whole place has stories and if you listen close enough they somehow reveal them selves, it is such a great place.

Ok... The Green "house" is the cabin. The natural wood building are out buildings, storage and "the old cabin"... The cabins are on 100 acres in the blue mountians, a beautiful creek runs through the property. And there is a great HIKE up to the most amazing waterfall. This ground was purchased 100 plus years ago and my hubbies great grand parents had put a cabin on the property for each kid~ so when they got married there was a cabin for each, I beleive there are 8 sites... SO this is a place where family gatherings still take place, cousins, aunts, you name it... it is really something.
