When hot weather rolls in, I always find myself thinking of lemons. Lemonade, lemon marinade for chicken on the grill, lemon meringue pie, lemon slushies, lemon anything! The tangy taste-bud-tingly tartness of lemon juice has the power to cool and refresh on a summer afternoon. I love it!

Did you know...?
Like other whole, natural foods, lemons taste good to us because they have healthy stuff to offer like antioxidants, anti-cancer compounds, immune and circulatory boosters, and liver cleansing properties. Lemon juice is also antibacterial, so you can use it to disinfect cuts and blemishes. And to soothe the sting of bug bites or sunburn, spray or dab a bit of lemon juice on affected areas.

Lemons are in the peak of their season right now, so go get some and try this sweet-tart lemon milkshake at home!!

Luscious Lemon Milkshake

Ingredients

3 cups milk
1/2 cup lemon juice
pinch salt
1/2 cup honey or agave nectar
1/8 teaspoon finely grated lemon rind
2 small scoops vanilla ice cream
You can also throw in a handful of your favorite berries—frozen works best.

Blend all the ingredients together and serve in frosty mugs.

Thanks for sharing Jen!
I can't wait to try it.

Another great thing that I love to do with my lemonade is when I am boiling and simmering my lemons and sugar/honey mixture in the post I add some very finely sliced ginger.
