Posted - Jun 23 2008 : 07:39:52 AM I have been reading and re-reading the review copy of Outpost, and it occurred to me to share with the rest of the "out there" women another great idea for cooking.
A friend of mine taught me this trick several years ago. Before you go on your escapade, if you are taking meat along (tofu would work), cut it up into pieces that will fit on the grill, put it in the marinade, and then put it into freezer bags, squeezing out all the air, roll it up tight and freeze. On the day you need to cook it, take the package out of the freezer, let it thaw while you are fishing/hiking/biking/snorkeling/napping and at dinner time, it's ready to go on the grill. Saves taking marinade ingredients and making a mess when you would rather be playing. |

Posted - Jun 24 2008 : 11:51:28 AM Great idea, Mary Ann! I've pre-made pancake & cookie mixes, but I've generally slighted the meat on flavor - salt and garlic at best. Next time, I'm bringing it already marinated! I'm awaiting my book, too!
