My dad taught me how to fish. I literally can't remember the first time we went fishing because we have _always_ fished together.

Who taught you?

My Dad taught me, but I also fished with my Gram. She was an avid fisher-woman as well.

My Dad taught me how to fish and he has now taught my son to fish as well. Last year I caught my first ocean salmon off the coast of Bodega Bay! It was awesome! And, last week Grandpa took Joey fishing to stock our pond. Thanks Pops, it's so great to learn a skill that you will have forever!

Fly fishing is so fun, Jenny - you'd love it. We're no experts, and we just have a couple of cheap poles, but it's darn near easy to catch bluegill on flies. The trick is just don't whip the line too fast, let it glide...and don't fish too close to trees...

My dad taught me...and I have taught all 7 of my kids. We all love to fish. My husband does too, but dosn't seem to get "out there" as much as the kids and I do. I have a goal to learn to fly fish in the next couple summers. I never learned that..and oldest son ..who is GOOD...hasn't taught me. He does live three states away now..but still!! I plan on LOTS of fishing this summer..it is one of my favorite things.

Oh lets see...everyone in my family fishes, so I dont rightly know who taught me the first time. My grandparents have a tank in back of their house and there were always cane poles available and we dug worms out of the garden. But the real fisherman (fisherwoman) in my family was my Grammer. She would fish for hours...sunnies, bass, it didnt matter. But I know for sure, she is the one who taught me how to CLEAN a fish. That was the rule at their house. You catch it, you clean it.

My step father, I was around eleven, I have his old cane fly rod. It was on the minam river in the wallowas of eastern oregon. I carry three fly rods with me all the time, and will soon be learning to tie my own flies finally. Fly fishing is absolutely zen for the soul.......... and alaska fulfills all your fly fishing dreams. jo

My dad taught me how to fish too. Those are some very fond memories. We'd go with his best friend and his best friend's son, who was my age and my best friend too. We fished ponds for catfish and widemouth bass. Later I learned how to river fish for trout with spinners and also worms. I think teaching kids how to fish teaches patience. There usually isn't much instant gratification, but once you get the hang of it, you're hooked

My wonderful dear dad who died 22 years ago. I was just a kid and he would take me to the ponds or lakes and show me how. I was usually more interested in hiking around the lake and looking in the snake holes but I learned to love it. Gosh, it has been a long time since I went fishing. I need to get a new license and go again.

My hubby taught me to fish!! Every year for vacation he and his family would go to the Sierra's and fish so once we started dating I had to learn how!! We still fit fishing in to almost every vacation we take. Hubby is a big time fly fisherman and would do that all day every day for the rest of his life if he could!!

Not sure anybody ever actually taught me. Got a bit of tackle from my stepdad at one point, but my sis & I just kinda fumbled our way along, learning from guys here and there. My sis is now an avid catfisherwoman (setting trot lines & the like), but I like action - casting, reeling, casting, reeling. Still don't like putting a worm on a hook - sappy, I know, but it feels too cruel. I love knowing that my kids & their cousins will learn as much about fishing from their moms as their dads
