Do you take a camera to capture scenes for art back home? Do you take a sketch pad? Paints? Oil or water color? Pastels?
I have been known to pack a sketch pad and take a camera. If I am trying to get a wildlife scene I use my camera but if I am just trying to get a scene down, I will often just draw. However, there have been many a times when driving over the Continental Divide that the majesty and beauty have swept my breath away and I am always grumbling "Where's my camera when I need it!!"

I used to take way too much. I try to remember a camera. And now instead of all my paints, I usually take a graphite pencil, a rapidograph type pen, watercolor pencils, one or two travel brushes and a pad or journal. If I'm traveling where I anticipate getting to a post office sometime during the trip I like taking blank postcards (made of watercolor paper) and will draw/paint cards to send to family and friends.

That's a great idea, Kate! I have done that before (made my own post cards) It's lots of fun, isn't it!

It really is Elizaray! :o) And then later, I've enjoyed finding ones I've sent posted on a refrigerator or wall and getting to reminisce about the trips.

That's so neat, Elizaray! My parents stumbled onto a letterbox not too long ago, but rain had gotten in & turned the paper inside to mush. Fun idea, though!

I really want to get started doing this, but maybe I will wait until Next spring so maybe Baby will remember doing some of it right from the start!

I've been orienteering, but I hadn't heard of Letterboxing, Elizaray! That does sound neat. The designing and embellishing of one's 'personal stamp' would be alot of fun!

I think that is neat about it too! I think it would be neat to take a pen knife and carve a wooden stamp for multiple uses!
