Hello everyone, here is a poem I wrote a while ago. I hope it inspires you to share too....

MOTHER EARTH

I learn from the river how to keep flowing,
The trees teach me to bend and sway with whatever comes my way,
I learn from the sky to keep my heart and mind open,
The snow teaches me to fall with grace.

I learn from the sun to shine bright, to trust without fear or fright,
The mountains teach me to be patient and humble, to stand strong when I want to crumble,
I learn from the moon to let go, to embrace change,
Let her guide my way to a new day.

Mother Earth helps us grow and flow,
So take it slow with that radiant glow
Learn to just BE.

Love,Traci

June Bug,
I LOVE your poem. May we use it in our Feb/March SIMPLY BEE issue??? Loved it.

MJ

Oh my goodness, this is my first "posts." I guess that's what writing an Outpost book will do to your social life.

Yea, Traci - congratulations!! What an honor from the "Queen Bee," and what a lovely poem. Your open heart inspires me to dig up some of my old poetry - haven't written any for quite some time. I'll see what I can find...

Any other poets out there?

This is a poem for kids I published in Highlights magazine a couple years ago - one of my favorites, though!

SUMMER NIGHT

Chippety chirp,
the frog gives a burp
as the moon rolls into the sky.
The fireflies blink and dance on air
and bats begin to fly.
The grass is cool,
the stars are bright,
and night sounds rattle and peep.
There's so much going on outside, I just can't fall asleep!

That is too cute Jen! I love it. Writing is such a release for me and it is so fun to create for kids like that. I think it is so important to have fun with learning and it helps kids relate on a level that they might not have been able too. When they are having fun, they let their guard down, ya know? Thanks for sharing. I have plenty to share when the time is right. For all those writers out there....let's hear it

Got this one in an email (it's from Orion Magazine http://www.orionmagazine.org/index.php/articles/poem/2855/)...

Doctrine

I love the church
of the osprey, simple
adoration, no haggling
over the body, the blood,
whether water sprinkled
from talons or immersed
in the river saves us,
whether ascension
is metaphor or literal,
because, of course,
it’s both: wings crooked,
all the angels crying out,
rising up from nests
made of sticks
and sunlight.
