Can you spot our 2007 calf, just under her mom "Delta". She calves here every year/other. She is a gentle soul, but we keep our distance, especially with a new young one. We call this area our moose meadow, the grass becomes high and they can be hard to see, especially when the days shorten up in late july/august. It's next to our house. jo

moose meadow looks inviting to me too
appears like she is hot... was it the pregnancy/nursing the calf or heat resulting in the thin back?

So cool, Jo, that she feels safe there. Beautiful. She looks pretty stout to me, for a moose. Kinda like a Jersey cow - spare parts spliced together to form a bizarre kind of beauty & grace.

She's actually in really beautiful shape, very healthy, the day was in the low 60's as usual for here, so I think she was pretty comfortable. Her ears are forward so she's pretty relaxed and alert to her calf. jo |
