Hi Lily!
We survived without a scratch here in Calico Rock & Pineville, AR, but I know many people suffered damages & injuries not far from us. Chris just called from work to say he'd be late because he has to help the locals over in Melbourne figure out how to bury a bunch of cows that got blown all over the highways. Poor cows.
We took the 3 kids, 2 dogs, & 1 willing cat into our little concrete storm shelter for about an hour last night, just in case. When the kids got restless, my hub read Rudyard Kipling's story "The White Seal" by lantern light. Everybody was glad to get back into our cozy house. It was about 65 degrees last night, and today it's darn cold - even had a quick sprinkle of snow this morning. Weird weather.
How are things on the coast, Lily?

| I’m so glad you are okay, Jen. As far as things on the coast – sunny and beautiful! We have had some cold snaps this winter, and some serious windstorms where I watched nervously out my window as the cypress trees and all the eucalyptus leaning toward our house thrashed about (the sound is amazing – an eerie creaking and wood splitting that make the hairs on the back of my neck rise). One tree did go down, but luckily it was farther up on the dune and our house was safely out of reach. Today it’s blue skies and sunshine, calm out on the bay. For those of you deep in snow right now, don’t feel too bad – we definitely pay for the weather in the cost of living here on the central coast of California! |
