The other day we had a pretty nasty bout of freezing rain, and I looked out the window to see 20+ snow geese (blue phase) bathing in the neighbor's pond! They were dipping and flapping like crazy. My guess is that they were getting pelted by ice as they were flying through, so they decided to descend and wash those icky ice pellets from their feathers. As soon as the sleet stopped, they left. I get silly excited by birds
Wow, what a great sight. It's incredible that you got to see them. The windows of opportunity in birdwatching are never predictable and a person just has to have a ready eye at all times.
I, too, get silly and crazy about birds. The behaviors we get to observe are so random and rare. I try to make sure my kids understand how Blessed they are to see the things they see.....the experiences can never be forced or created, we just get to see them as they happen.
