I must be a homebody because even though traveling abroad sounds amazing, the best vacation I can think up is heading for the hills and sleeping under the stars right here around home!
My husband said that next weekend we should all go to the cabin and camp out. I'm all for it, but it looks like it will have to wait till later in this month for pay day. I wish gas wasn't so expensive. It's a bummer to put camping plans on hold because you have to pay rent and buy groceries.

| I am glad that gas is so much cheaper! Do you think you will get out more this summer, Eliza Ray? I know our family had to stay close to home this past summer, and darn it if gas prices didn't drop right as the cold set in! Hopefully they stay low! I have PLANS for this spring and summer! |

We're sticking close to home this spring & summer. Just camping nearby. We're re-doing our upstairs this year. Can't afford to go far from home this go around.
Looking forward to campfires in the yard though!

My husband had the opportunity to have a free trip to Washington DC--he turned it down. Now he had been there before but he says he enjoys being here now. It's the best place to be. JoAnn

Wow JoAnn! Where did he get the free trip from!
Since we are still pretty new to this area I am going to try really hard to find some fun places to visit and camp close by. Perhaps the husband might even go!

Jim is on the Board of our little Friends of the Little Pend Oreille Wildlife Refuge. Every year they have a national meeting in Washington DC. Almost everyone on the current Board has gone but Jim didn't want to. JoAnn

| I love knowing the terrain in an area. There is nothing like discovering that little brook or stream in the out of the way location and _knowing_ that no one has been there in ages! I love to find little nooks that I can tuck my self away in where I can just sit, be quite and observe! You would be surprised how many animals will come out if you are non threatening and quiet! I am so glad I can turn my digital camera to a quiet setting. I am hoping to get some good pictures this summer! |

I really like going to local historically significant places as well. Not to far from here is an Interment camp from WW2 and some of the locals don't even realize what it was for! The Oregon Trail also is close by and if you go up a bit further north there are Indian Pictographs!

We too love going to historically significant places. We live quite close to an area where Joliett & Marquette portaged their canoe as they explored Chicago. We like to go there and explore the forest preserve that they have made to mark the event - it has wonderful paths and a great pond. I encourage my girls to imagine what it must have been like for them.
On our list of "must see's" is the Oregon Trail - the starting point. (since it's close for us we can go and camp).
Oh! I want to go out and play!
